Insist that HUD repeal its regulation forcing women's shelters to admit men who identify as women

In late 2016, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) dictated that HUD-funded emergency shelters comply with "gender identity" ideology to receive federal funding. Across the country, places of refuge for women and children escaping male violence were forced to house men who identify as women in living areas previously set aside strictly for women and children.

Women and children who simply want and need to escape male violence are being told to leave what were supposed to be women-only shelters if they won't share sleeping and washroom facilities with male clients. HUD’s policy is failing traumatized women, and even adding to their harm.

Sign now to say: We insist that HUD repeal its "gender identity" rule and restore the right of all shelters to maintain single-sex shelters and services.

The purpose of women’s shelters is to protect women from male violence and to help them heal. Having men, socialized from birth as males, in the shelter, defeats that purpose. It subjects women to risk of rape and other violence, which men, and men who claim to be women, commit far, far more often than females do. And yes, how many more women are doing to be raped or beaten, choked, or killed before this insane policy is ended? Stop experimenting stupidly with women’s lives. Anyone in the domestic violence, or rape crisis field already knows this.

You know misogyny is rampant when male pervs in skirts are given preferential treatment over women (and kids) in areas where safety is an issue.

Protect women and children. Many so-called self-identified women, who are not biologically female, and who were not raised as girls, could be opportunistic male sexual predators. And imagine the male perpetrators of violence, even former partners of female victims, who can use this ruse to punish the women who seek asylum in women’s shelters. If a transsexual male-to-female personally needs sheltering, she also needs vetting and background reports ruling out any history of sexual or gender based hatred or violence.

Allowing men to invade women’s spaces only endangers women. Single-sex spaces must be restored.

How many women need to be raped AGAIN in places where they thought they would be safe? How many women will be assaulted AGAIN in places where they thought it would not happen?

Why, in the name of all that is good and decent, are people trying to place the needs of men ahead of the needs of at-risk women? Why should men in dresses come first?

When will the lives, human rights, and safety of women be of equal importance to those of men with a mental illness?

Women/females need spaces separate from men/males, especially in vulnerable situations like domestic violence shelters, bathrooms/changing rooms/showers, prisons

Transwomen are male and may very well need their own spaces but women’s rights should not be pushed aside to give male transwomen access to needed services

We need both/and solutions that maintain and/or increase the rights of women/girls/females and also make sure that the rights of trans people are legally protected without infringing on the rights of females

A gender is playacting. A sex is a physical corporeal reality and men rape women because of their bodies, not because they perform a feminine role. Pretending to be the opposite sex does not erase the power dynamic that males and females are conditioned into beginning at birth, when sex is OBSERVED, not ASSIGNED.
